چکیده
Objective: sleep disturbances are frequently undiagnosed in patients with mental disorders. the aim of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of sleep disturbances in a sample of treatment-seeking patients with obsessivecompulsive disorder (ocd). Method: a total of 123 patients were screened, of whom 63 met diagnostic criteria for ocd and were further assessed with measures of sleep disturbances, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, depressive symptoms and metacognitive beliefs. Results: the results showed that the sample was characterized by a high proportion of sleep problems, with 65 % of the patients having a PSQI global index indicative of insomnia. Sleep disturbances were significantly higher than in the normal population. a stepwise linear regression analysis showed that severity of compulsions explained the highest proportion of the variance in sleep disturbances, followed by depressive symptoms and negative metacognitive beliefs about uncontrollability of thoughts and danger. Conclusions: The data suggest impaired sleep to be influenced by OCD-symptoms and possible clinical implications

Sleep disturbances in obsessive-compulsive disorder: Association with non-response to repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS).
Background Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a promising augmentation strategy for treatment-refractory OCD. However, a substantial group still fails to respond. Sleep disorders, e.g. circadian rhythm sleep disorders (CRSD), are highly prevalent in OCD and might mediate treatment response. The aims of the current study were to compare sleep disturbances between OCD patients...

Objective: cognitive models assumed that responsibility beliefs are a vulnerability and maintenance cognitive factor specific to OCD symptoms. Several studies have been conducted on the specificity of responsibility to OCD relative to anxiety disorders (AD) or depression (DEP). Evidence to date appeared inconsistent, and a meta-analysis on this issue
متن کاملSleep and circadian rhythm disturbances in bipolar disorder: an urgent need for objective assessment and systematic follow-up.
To the Editor: We read with great interest the recent article from Leboyer and Kupfer,1 which proposes a new framework for bipolar disorder as a chronic and progressive multisystem disorder associated with significant emotional disturbance and cognitive impairment between episodes. That article also highlights as an unmet need the lack of systematic follow-up in some of the core dimensions of b...

OBJECTIVE Among patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD), sleep disturbances are common and serious noncognitive symptoms. Previous studies of AD patients have identified deformations in the brain stem, which may play an important role in the regulation of sleep. The aim of this study was to further investigate the relationship between sleep disturbances and alterations in brain stem morphology i...

Background and Aim: We aimed to determine the prognostic imaging and clinical markers of chronic Post-Traumatic Sleep-Wake Disorders (PTSWDs) with a special focus on the early cognitive and executive dysfunctions following Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). The prevalence rate of Post-Traumatic Psychiatric Disorders (PTPDs) in various sleep disorders was also investigated. Methods and Materials/Pat...
